Description
The Energy Equity Project, housed at University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability, was launched in May 2021 to support BIPOC, frontline, and low-income communities in securing maximum benefits from the clean energy transition and having a prominent voice in how energy planning, investments, and decision-making.
After 15 months of collaborative research by more than 45 energy leaders from across the country, we are pleased to release the Energy Equity Framework. We present the Energy Equity Interactive Map and the Framework for Measuring and Advancing Energy Equity, which provides comprehensive guidance on how to adopt metrics and qualitative best practices. The interactive map uses 26 census-tract level datasets to illuminate existing inequities, while the framework report emphasizes strategies for reversing these inequities.
Explore the map and download the report at:

In this session, you'll see a live demo of the interactive map and how you can use the Framework for Measuring and Advancing Energy Equity, whether you represent a frontline community or play a role in energy policy, regulation, research or programming.
We hope this is a start of a longer relationship and look forward to learning about how we can support your work locally.
