Stamps @ Home: Conversation with Artists from the Exhibition Story, Word, Sound, Sway
Connect with Stamps alumni as they explore their artistic work from the Stamps Gallery exhibition Story, Word, Sound, Sway. Join us for Stamps @ Home: A Conversation with Artists from the Exhibition, and hear from four alumni artists who are featured. We will host a panel discussion around how their work is woven into the theme of challenging the status quo, and how artists today can work to break down walls of oppression and injustice. Endi Poskovic, Professor at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design, will facilitate the conversation, and audience members will be asked to share questions to the panelists during a Q&A section. Panelists include:
Senghor Reid (BFA ’99)
Yvette Rock (MFA ’99)
Wes Taylor (BFA ’04)
Elizabeth Youngblood (BFA ’73)
The Stamps Gallery exhibition Story, Word, Sound, Sway explores subjects of alternative histories, Black identity, and storytelling; meshing performance and performativity, and the interplay of the oral and aural in one’s experience of the world. Due to COVID restrictions on the U-M campus, only those with an active U-M ID (an "MCard") can visit Stamps Gallery at this time. Work in the exhibition can be viewed online at myumi.ch/2DX2B
